Although Murray decided to retire in 1986 the business is still operated by the Nixon family. Murray's son Ricky, his daughter Lynda, and his grandson L.W. provide leadership and a direct connection to the heritage Murray built.

In July of 2011 Murray L. Nixon Fishery Inc. continued to grow and expanded into private labeled products by purchasing Perry Wynn Fish Co. and the popular "CHOWAN BRAND" salt fish and "CHOWAN BEST" herring roe.

The family run company continues the unwavering dedication to quality seafood. This is harder and harder to do as demand grows and the variety of fresh and frozen seafood expands. But despite the difficulty of the task, the organization remains committed to meeting customer's needs and demonstrate that goal by their motto; "If we don't have it or can't get it just simply can't be gotten."
